Geographical Locations
In the west Larnaka district lies Vavla, built at approximately 470m above sea level. Vavla is a small traditional village preserving its traditional architecture to a large extent. There are various stories regarding the origin of its name, the most prevalent being that it derives from the Italian word "vavala". Today Vavla, following the waves of urban pull, stands within a rich natural environment of wild vegetation, a great number of herbal plants, vineyards and a small number of carob tree, almond tree and grain plantations. The visitor should see the noteworthy Monastery of Ayios Minas close to the village, walk the nature trails of the area, and visit the neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia. Oh, and don't forget the seashore nearby!
