Geographical Locations
Koilani, at 820 metres above sea level, is located about 36 kilometres northwest of the town of Limassol. The varied landscape surrounding the village is marked by the contrast of mountains that alternate with steep valleys. Koilani's charm lies in the narrow village alleys and rural homes with their large earthen vats and traditional presses for the production of wine. In all probability the village's name dates back to the Lusignan period (Le Quiflane). The area's soil lent itself to the cultivation of grapevines, fruit trees such as apples, pears, plums and olives, as well as some citrus and almond trees. Visitors en route to the Troodos Mountains often stop at Koilani, which has a reputation for serving good food and wine in its little taverns.
