Agios Athanasios lies 3Km northeast of Limassol. This traditional village is built amphitheatrically with a view of the town and sea. It is named after the saint of the community. Before the Turkish invasion of 1974, Agios Athanasios was a small agricultural community with approximately 400 residetns. After the invasion it accommodated a large number of displaced persons. Two large refugee settlements were built in the area. Its Growth continued rapidly in all aspects, soon becoming a small, modern town with many possibilities and a future. At the same time though it harmonises the traditional character of an old village with all the conforts of a modern town. 2km from the village you can find the monastery of Panayias tis sfalangiotisas. It is built on the site of a hill and from there can enjoy the wonderful view of the town with the sea in the horizon. At Approximately equal distance from the village you can find the pisturesque little church of Ayia Marina. The small valley with the calm and peaceful environment shall be at one with the visitor in the best possible way.
