The traditional houses of the Hapesi family in the village of Lympia date back to the beginning of the 19th century. Mr. Kakoullis Hapesis, the youngest of 11 brothers, was a builder and enthusiastic about quarrying and carving the local stone that is still available in the surrounding areas. He would load his donkey with stone, as well as wood and local reeds to carry to the site, where he gradually began to build the present facilities. The lower part of the buildings are constructed with local stone and the upper part of the buildings are built with sun-dried, clay bricks (bricks).
