Overview
  1. The Winery

Oenou Yi Winery, is a family-owned winery located in Omodos Village, Limassol district. Established in 2018, Oenou Yi Winery is committed to producing wines exclusively from Cypriot indigenous varieties of the highest calibre and distinction, each one expressing the unique Cypriot terroir. The winery’s successful operation is based on the excellent quality grapes of Omodos village region, which are picked from the estate’s privately-owned vineyards some being dated over 120 years old.

At Oenou Yi Winery, we use the indigenous Cypriot varieties of Mavro, Xinisteri, Maratheftiko, Lefkada, Promara, Vasilissa, Yiannoudi, as well as international varieties such as Shiraz, Cabernet, Mataro, Chardonnay and others. We vinify using new technology and expertise, while remaining true to our roots and tradition. The annual production is approximately 250,000 bottles (with full potential of 500,000 per year) of various types of wines, red, white, rose as well as the unique Commandaria - the sweet dessert wine, recognised as one of the oldest wines in the world still in production (800 years old).

  1. The Vineyards

Oenou Yi Winery focuses on preserving Omodos’ tradition of wine, exploiting the unique altitude of the area that contributes significantly to the development of their vineyards. Having the Omodos’ terroir as a special ally, priority is given to the indigenous varieties of Cyprus, such as Xynisteri, Maratheftiko, Yiannoudi, while also exploiting international varieties, such as Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon.

The estate’s vineyards are planted amphitheatrically which allows them to spread their roots deep in white limestone soils in search of the most wanted moisture. Rocky soil is what ultimately offers the much sought-after mineral notes in wine. Our vineyards are not irrigated and rely solely on rainfall. Oenou Yi Winery also exploits linear plantation structures, which facilitate the cultivation methods, as well as the traditional dry stone of Omodos, which prevents soil erosion.
